As part of Green Week\, we are opening submissions for a University of Birmi ngham Nature Photography Competition. It&rsquo\;s a chance to get involve d and take a moment to appreciate the nature and biodiversity we have aro und us in our everyday lives. The idea of the competition is to take natu re photos on campus or in our local areas (places close to where we live and work). Photographs can be of wildlife or natural scenery and should b e taken over the course of Green Week itself. The spirit of the competiti on is to have some fun\, become more aware of the biodiversity right in f ront of us and to appreciate that there is lots to notice in our &lsquo\; ordinary&rsquo\; surroundings. \;

What kind of things can I enter photographs of?

\n\ n

You can enter photographs of nature either on campus or local to wher e you are working from home (ie. parks\, gardens\, anywhere you might go for a walk). \;

\n\n

Who can take part?

\n\n

The competit ion is open to all UoB staff and students from UK or Dubai campuses

\n \n

When are submissions open?

\n\n

From 8:00 (UK time) on Monday 16 \;March &ndash\; 18:00 (UK time) on Friday 20 \;March

\n\n

How many winners will there be?

\n\n

We are hoping to select tw o overall winners and two runners up from across our entries. \;Ou r judging panel will reserve the right to use their discretion on how man y prizes are eventually awarded.

Who decides on the winner s?

\n\n

A panel of judges from sustainability functions across the University and the Guild of Students. \;

\n\n

How do I submit?

\n\n

Please submit your photo using the \;online photo comp submission form. Please note that we w ill not accept any submissions that are not sent via the form itself.

Overall prize winners will receive a £\;30 gift voucher towards a green cause\; runner-up winners will receive a £\;20 voucher. \;The competition coordinators will get in touch with winners to deliver gift vouchers.

Winner s will be announced via UoB internal comms

A number of submiss ions will be added to the central sustainability SharePoint pages on a te mporary basis &ndash\; \;not limited to prize winners and at the j udging panel&rsquo\;s discretion.

Provided formatting allo ws\, there is an opportunity for winning photos to be displayed on campus totem screens for a temporary period\, after the winners have been annou nced. \;Please note that on entering the competition\, you agree t hat the University can display your photo on internal pages and totems. I f the university would like to use your image elsewhere\, you will be con tacted for permission.

Generative AI \;must not be used \ ;to create content in photographs\, and we will discount any images where we can see that this is the case.
\n
Images need to be uploaded to the submission form in JPEG format (details on the submission form).\n
If you are submitting a picture of an animal\, please send phot os of wildlife only (not pets).
\n
Please do not interfere with a ny biodiversity in the process of taking your photograph
\n
Photo graphs need to be your own work\, and we will ask that you confirm this i s the case on submission
\n
Please do not use identifiable &lsquo \;people&rsquo\; in images
\n
Please fill in all aspects of the s ubmission form &ndash\; we will be unable to accept incomplete entries.\n
