This engaging and practical session intro duces students to the basics of British Sign Language (BSL) and Deaf awar eness within healthcare environments.

\n\n

Students will learn usefu l introductory signs\, explore common communication barriers faced by Dea f patients\, and develop a greater understanding of Deaf culture and acce ssibility within healthcare settings. The session will also look at pract ical strategies for improving communication confidence and creating more inclusive patient experiences.

\n\n

No previous experience of BSL is required. The session is designed to be interactive\, supportive\, and d iscussion-based\, with opportunities to practise signing throughout.

\ n\n

The training is delivered by Sign Together UK\, a Deaf-led and live d-experience-informed British Sign Language training provider and Signatu re Accredited Centre working with organisations\, universities\, healthca re professionals\, and public services across the UK.

\n\n

This work shop is open to all\, but is specifically designed for those who are aimi ng for careers in clinical healthcare settings.

\n\n

The session wil l run 11:00-14:30\, with 30 minutes of break within the session.
