ac.uk/ents/event/4921/</p>\n<p>What can you do with a stack of old academ
ic posters that would otherwise be thrown away? Build a four-metre-wide g
eodesic dome!</p>\n\n<p>Drop in at any point during the day and work with
other students to assemble the structure. No experience of construction\
, design or materials is needed\, and you can stay for as much or as litt
le of the build as you like.</p>\n\n<p>As the dome takes shape\, you will
discover how geodesic domes work\, why they are so strong and efficient\
 , and how they connect with materials science\, architecture\, design\, s
ustainability\, ecology and even zoos and community gardens.</p>\n\n<p>Th
e story does not end when the dome is finished. One of the structures wil
l later become a mushroom-growing space on campus through the CAPPUCCINO
initiative\, bringing together two circular projects to transform univers
ity waste into something useful\, visible and slightly unexpected.</p>\n\
n<p>The activity is open to anyone who enjoys making things\, solving pra
ctical problems or exploring sustainability\, design\, materials and arch
itecture. Wear practical clothing and footwear suitable for hands-on work
and the weather. All materials and equipment will be provided.</p>\n\n<p
 >The project is supported by the Alumni Impact Fund\, whose team will be
there to capture the build and the finished dome.</p></body></html>
