The Race Equality Network are work ing with colleagues across the University to deliver a day of celebration in memory of Benjamin Zephaniah.

\n\n

As part of the day\, there wi ll be an afternoon event featuring \;a range of speakers talking abou t him and his work\, the impact of Benjamin on the city of Birmingham\, p ersonal stories about him\, and poems and spoken word. \;As a fierce campaigner for social justice\, education and the arts\, Benjamin was an inspirational figure in Birmingham\, and we would like to celebrate him a ppropriately.

This event is just part of a celebration day\, wh ich will include the unveiling of a plaque for him in the Green Heart\, h is poems across digital screens\, his music being played in social spaces on campus\, and Old Joe being illuminated up in the evening. \;
