Complete your essential Welcome admin at the Welcome Registration Hub, which brings together key teams into one location, helping you get sorted quickly and efficiently. The Welcome Registration Hub is open daily throughout Arrivals Weekend and Welcome Week, and week days until Friday 2 October.

Right to Study checks

Students who require a visa to study in the UK must complete a Right to study check. You will start the process online, using My Right to Study, and complete the process at an in-person appointment in the Welcome Registration Hub. You must book an appointment to attend - if you attend without an appointment or at a time outside of your appointment, you will be turned away. Once you have completed your Right to Study check, you can receive your student ID card.

ID card collection will be available for:

UK students who completed Online Registration after Monday 7 September
Students without a UK address
International students, once you have completed your Right to Study check

The Academic English Skills for PGR students sessions focus on a range of skills to help you write and research with confidence as you work towards your PhD, MRes, MPhil or other research-based qualification. All sessions are online and delivered by Zoom. There are 5 sessions. Each session is a stand-alone topic and you can attend all 5 sessions or choose the sessions that you will find most useful.

Today's session will help you to:

proofread your thesis following UoB regulations
polish your test to improve signposting
use linking strategies appropriately
evaluate AI proofreading suggestions critically
