From dystopian ‘cli-fi’ movies to optimistic documentaries, Dr Richard Langley and Nina Jones examine how cinema has engaged with the climate crisis.

Nina Jones will explore the role of non-fiction filmmaking in the climate crisis, interrogating its shift toward docu-tainment frameworks. Against this backdrop, she will critically examine documentaries that resist cynicism by foregrounding narratives of hope and maintaining their capacity to challenge and mobilise audiences.
