The Academic English Skills for PGR students sessions focus on a range of skills to help you write and research with confidence as you work towards your PhD, MRes, MPhil or other research-based qualification. All sessions are online and delivered by Zoom. There are 5 sessions. Each session is a stand-alone topic and you can attend all 5 sessions or choose the sessions that you will find most useful.
Today's session will help you to:
- understand what ‘being critical’ means and why it is important
- distinguish between descriptive and critical writing
- recognise the language of criticality
- highlight critical comments in your writing
