An introduction to Africanize, a University of Birmingham project led by Artist-In-Residence Sipho Eric Ndlovu. This will be an introductory, engaging and accessible poetry workshop inspired by live artifacts and artworks from the University's African collection. Together we will explore the context of some of these artefacts and use them to prompt diaspora interpretation and inform new poetic expressions.
Bio: Sipho Eric Ndlovu is a performance artist who uses poetry, dance and community facilitation to encourage accessibly of the arts. His "Africanize" research project uses museum artifacts, spoken word, and storytelling to explore African heritage, culture, and empowerment. The project aims to foster community engagement and facilitate collective interpretations of African histories.
