What is Pride Not Prejudice?

Pride Not Prejudice uses books, films, plays, and other artforms as a catalyst for conversations around equality, diversity, social justice, and inclusion. Beginning in 2019 as a one off panel event, Pride Not Prejudice has grown to host authors, comedians, and actors such as Sadia Azmat and Paterson Joseph. This iteration will be its twelfth and most exciting event to date, featuring a film screening of Dheeraj Akolkar’s award-winning short film The Wound is Where the Light Enters followed by a question and answer panel discussion with Akolkar, other trustees of GRACE International, and children born of war.

GRACE International

GRACE stands for Global Reconciliation, Advocacy & Community-Building Engagement in War-affected Regions. It is an international charity based in the U.K. that promotes long-term, sustainable reconciliation and advocacy for children born of war, their families and communities affected by war. Their origins are in a series of award-winning collaborations between academics, filmmakers, local and international NGOs and individuals who themselves were born into war-affected communities that have already changed lives and attitudes in Bosnia and Uganda.

Dheeraj Akolkar

Dheeraj Akolkar is an award-winning director and producer, and the founder of Vardo Films with 15 years of experience in making international fiction and non-fiction films.
