Museum of Me is a project by Extraordinary Us that celebrates the lives of ordinary people and displays their stories to show what makes them extraordinary. Supported by Culture Forward, three University of Birmingham students have taken part in putting up a week-long museum celebrating the people of Birmingham and the variations of ‘Brummie’ as part of their Professional Skills Module (PSM). The stars of the Museum are:
- Laiba Fayyaz - an international student
- Anniyah Balonek - a local business owner with much student clientele
- Davi Walker - a Diversity Project Officer
- Graham Dix - an author and an alumnus of the University
- Francesco Ripanti - a history professor
Some of them have lived most of their lives in the city and others have travelled from far and wide to find their homes here. Birmingham is a city known for being diverse with people from all walks of life, and we believe it is about time that it was appreciated for helping so many people find the place where they feel they belong.
Come and explore the outdoor exhibition each day of Welcome Week and discover new exhibits every day. Each day an opening ceremony will take place 12:15, celebrating the new person's museum.
