The Race Equality Network are working with colleagues across the University to deliver a day of celebration in memory of Benjamin Zephaniah.

As part of the day, there will be an afternoon event featuring a range of speakers talking about him and his work, the impact of Benjamin on the city of Birmingham, personal stories about him, and poems and spoken word. As a fierce campaigner for social justice, education and the arts, Benjamin was an inspirational figure in Birmingham, and we would like to celebrate him appropriately.

This event is just part of a celebration day, which will include the unveiling of a plaque for him in the Green Heart, his poems across digital screens, his music being played in social spaces on campus, and Old Joe being illuminated up in the evening.
