Barber Lunchtime Concert: Cecilia Ensemble: 1pm - 1:50pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; Enjoy a free lunchtime concert with flautist Carla Rees. From baroque flute to contrabass flute and all those in between, Carla gives a fascinating insight into the development of the flute. Doors open 12:30.

Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir and Chamber Choir: 7:30pm - 9:30pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; You are cordially invited on a whistle-stop tour around the world with the University Music’s Flute, Clarinet, and Chamber Choirs! With Irish blessings, Czech symphonic poems, Italian opera, French dances, and much more. Tickets £5.

Birmingham University Singers and University Upper Voices: 7:30pm - 9:30pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; As regular commissioners of new music, we are delighted to present the world premiere performance of a new work by Indian-American composer Shruthi Rajasekar, once described by The Guardian as a ‘composer who will enrich your life’. Tickets £5.

Sun 15th March

Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra: 3pm - 5pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; The Symphony Orchestra perform some of the most popular Scandinavian music in the repertoire, including Sibelius's tone poem Finlandia. Symphony Orchestra will be joined by String Orchestra, led by student conductor Evie Ghauri. Tickets £5.

miniBEAST: Baroque-Arabic-Futurism: 11:30am - 12:30pm; Dome Room, Bramall Music Building; John Kameel Farah is a pianist whose music embraces Baroque and Arabic Music, experimental improvisation, and electronics. Join us for this free performance.

Fri 20th March

Brass Band and Saxophone Choir: 7:30pm - 9:30pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; From film music to Wagner opera, brand new arrangements to a traditional march, this shared concert with the University Brass Band and Saxophone Choir means Friday night really is music night! Enjoy a relaxed evening of entertainment. Tickets £5.

University Chorus: 7:30pm - 8:30pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; The University Chorus welcomes guest conductor, and Department of Music alumnus, Elliot Mercer, with a programme centred around Vivaldi's popular Gloria, a firm favourite with many a large choir. Tickets £5.

Sun 22nd March

University Philharmonic Orchestra: 3pm - 5pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; We celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Richard Rodney Bennett with a performance of his film-score-like Partita, and give the second-ever performance of Ryan Latimer’s Dromsong, commissioned for our 125 Anniversary. Tickets £5.

Tue 24th March

Take part: Clapping Music workshop: 7pm - 9:30pm; Bramall Music Building; Join leading percussionist Colin Currie for an inclusive workshop focusing on Steve Reich’s minimalist masterpiece, Clapping Music. Originally written for two performers, we take on the challenge of a mass performance. Register for your free place.

Wed 25th March

Barber Evening Concert: Colin Currie Quartet at CrossCurrents: 7:30pm - 9:30pm; Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building; Colin Currie brings his percussion quartet to the CrossCurrents new music festival for an evening celebrating Steve Reich's 90th Birthday year. A highlight is a mass community performance of Clapping Music following a public workshop. Tickets £5.

Early Music Chamber Concert: 5:30pm - 6:30pm; The Dome, Bramall Music Building; Join our early music chamber groups and the Early Modern Vocal Ensemble for an informal concert as they present a selection of the repertoire that they have been exploring this academic year. Free, no booking needed.
