Litter picking - but on the water! Join our friends from the South Birmingham Paddle Club , for a brand new adventure on Birmingham's iconic canals.

After a short safety briefing, staff will guide and support you to a litter pick paddle, seeing campus and surroundings from a whole new angle. Whether you're aiming for the fastest time of the day, or just want a gentle float and paddle, these 45 minute sessions are suitable for absolute beginners and seasond paddlers alike. All equipment is provided.

Come alone, or with friends, and you'll soon be experiencing a whole different side of Brum.

Whitehouse Wharf, Bristol Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham B29 6SR  (at the back of Sainbury's next to Barrtery Park) . Link to google maps 

Arrival

Please arrive on time so that we can get everyone signed in, fitted with equipment and briefed to start.

What to bring

  • Clothes you’re happy to get a little wet
  • A change of clothes for afterwards
  • Old trainers or water shoes (no flip flops)
  • A bottle of water

What’s provided

  • Kayaks/bellboat, paddles, and buoyancy aids
  • Basic instruction and on-water support

All participants must wear a buoyancy aid (provided).

Facilities

Please arrive in suitable clothing. Waterproofs are not essential, though you may wish to bring a change of clothes.

As SBPC are based directly on the canal, there are no toilet or changing facilities on site. However, nearby are two retail shopping parks and Sainsbury’s is within walking distance if required.
